I read “The Wars of the Jews”, an article written in old English, about a group of authors who were asked to write on the history of the war between the Jews and the Romans. The authors’ lives were put in danger and their families’ safety was put in jeopardy as well. during that period. Jospehus, a Jewish priest, was one of the who wrote the article. He worked for the Roman government and who also translated some of the literature into Greek. He was forced to write the historical facts with a bias towards the Romans as they will be beheaded for writing against the Roman government. As a result, the writing of history were left to the cowards and the rest died with regrets bring the truth with them into the graves.
I could never imagined how I would react being in their position. Probably I would not have the courage to live. I may just go bonkers. Great authors would record the historical facts with honesty, presenting the facts accurately to their readers. They would choose to live dignified lives and fight to survive for the preservation of their families. While it is impossible to write the truth, they could have chosen to pass it down through words of mouth. However, they choose rather to live undignified lives, pleasing the Romans.
Lastly, this is what I gather about the priest in this article. He was brave and honest; he dared to stand up against the Romans. He was also righteous and dared to speak the truth. While being a foreigner, he did not shrunk back but chose to reveal the true facts and persistent in pursing the truth. Likewise, Jesus also taught us to live in truth and righteousness. He does not wish for us to continue living in darknes and sin and has given us a free will to choose. We can choose to live in darkness or to live in the light of Christ. The bible says in John 3:19-21, “Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.” In conclusion, God desires to save all who are living in darkness and transfer them into his marvelous light.
